Confidence building
Trying to create or conduct change in any environment can be difficult and being young as well as that can become a whole new obstacle. This for many people and is the reason that people give up on something they are passionate about and want to see changed. It is important that despite people’s opinions or obstacles you may face that you persevere. This was something that throughout our project had us doubting ourselves. We found that a big reason for this a lack of confidence in ourselves. We knew that we had passion for our project but were scared others wouldn’t hear us our or believe in us. Quite frankly, we also needed to believe in ourselves more as well. This is not an easy thing to recognise or fix however it is crucial in order for others to take you seriously. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect others to. If working in a team, build other team members up by affirming that they are needed in order to make the project go further. Creating a healthy relationship between your members makes the world a difference. If working by yourself you must play the roles of other members meaning affirming yourself and having a healthy relationship with yourself. Public speaking is also an important skill to have as you may not know when you’ll need to use it. Take a deep breath and know that you have worked hard. Command the space and always be aware of your body language. An important note to make is that the higher you want to go the steeper the climb. All good things are worth facing your fears for. You may inspire other people like yourself to take the same steps you have. Fear is temporary but regrets last forever.
Newspaper Interviews
When being interviewed in any situation it can be daunting. You don’t want to make a mistake and you also don’t want to say the wrong thing. It is super important to have three main points that you always go back to ensure you are not sidetracked throughout the interview. Be prepared for any questions that can be asked from simple basic questions to a more competency-based line of questioning. You may be nervous but by sticking to your main points you should be fine. Do research related to your project to ensure correct statistics or any other relevant information. Doing this will make the audience understand that you know the topic you are talking about. Keep your answers concise and to the point as long-winded answers will lose people’s interest. Try not to be overly negative as you will come across as too pessimistic. Before the interview take a deep breath. As long as you’re passionate about what you’re discussing, you will do just fine.
