How to make an impact?

When trying to gain attention or raise awareness for a project or issue you are passionate about it is important to make an impact. Doing this can ensure the issue you are raising awareness for has a lasting effect on your intended audience. Think about the most important message you want to convey and then work other minor details around it. You can use many platforms or methods as a medium for you message. For our project, we made a short one minute video which was filmed on an iPhone. What’s important is not the budget nor the expensive budget but how you portray your message. Be concise and to the point. If you are talking about climate change do not allow yourself to be sidetracked and start talking about the homeless crisis for example. It may help to have a mind map or brainstorm to know the direction you want to take. You can make a short video clip in which you post it to social media to reach a larger audience or you can write a letter to a local politician for a more direct approach. There are so many ways to reach people but by being truly passionate it becomes much easier to make an impact.

Youth Voice

                      We define youth voice as:

supporting young people in taking a leading role in their own education through questions and applied to learn in partnership with adults. It’s important for us as Young people in Ireland to have our voices heard because we are very capable, educated and opinionated. As we understand it, we are the future generation within our society and therefore we should be part of the decision making the process and making an impact wherever we can.

Teamwork

Transition year is all about getting to know each other better and work in groups!

Teamwork is really important when a project like this has to be done. We had to work in groups but also together as a class and get everyone out of their comfort zone and everyone to do their best but also have fun and learn new things while doing it
